Supporting Information and Local Rules

  1. The Race is organised by Blaydon Harrier and Athletics Club under UKA current Rules for Competition.

  2. In this document:

    • The Race Organiser is Blaydon Harrier and Athletics Club.

    • The Race is The Blaydon Race.

    • An Applicant is an individual whose application to compete has not yet been accepted.

    • A Competitor is an individual whose application to compete has been accepted.

  5. Competitors are reminded that The Blaydon Race takes place over roads normally used by motor vehicle traffic. During the Race Competitors should be aware of and take appropriate avoiding action when confronted by road hazards, for example, street furniture, changes in surfaces or road height, inspection covers, drains and potholes. Competitors should be weary of potentially wet and slippery conditions.

  6. This is a running race; the Race Organiser will not accept entries from those intending to walk.

  7. The Race Organiser reserves the right to refuse entry to an Applicant. If this were to occur, the Race Organiser will provide the Applicant with the reason(s) as to why the application was refused.

  8. There is a 2-hour time limit on the Race, any Competitor who has failed to finish after the time allowed must discontinue the race when instructed to do so by a Race Official.

  9. Competitors must follow all instructions from Race Officials or the Police.

  10. The course is unsuitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. The Blaydon Race will, when reasonable to do so, make reasonable adjustments to enable participation, provided the Race Organiser receives notice from the Applicant when applying to compete.

  11. Pets may not accompany Competitors during the Race and may not enter the course.

  12. All competitors must adjudge themselves both physically and mentally capable of completing the Race before starting and must withdraw if they are unwell.

  13. Competitors requiring a replacement race pack will incur a charge of up to £6, payable in advance.

  14. The Blaydon Race will comply with its Duties under GDPR and will only process and retain personal or sensitive Data justified under the terms of the Regulations.

 

Terms and Conditions

  1. The Race is open to Competitors of 16 years of age (on the day of the Race) and above.

  2. The Race Organiser reserves the right to make changes and clarifications to the Race without prior notice to Competitors. The Race Organiser will endeavour to warn Competitors of any change prior to the Race. However, changes are binding upon all Competitors.

  3. All Race rules are subject to interpretation and decisions by the Race Organiser.

  4. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. In the event that the Race is cancelled the Race Organiser is not responsible for any costs incurred by the Competitor.

  5. The Blaydon Race accepts no liability for injury, harm, loss, or costs which may arise as the result of participating in the Race.

  6. Failure to follow Race rules or a Race Official’s instructions may result in disqualification, loss of prize money and removal from official results.

  7. Violation of the Race Rules or these Terms and Conditions may result in disqualification for this or future events. The decision of the Race Organiser is final.
