Route
The officially measured 5.9 mile route follows the famous song, as closely as we safely can, but is getting increasingly harder to avoid minor changes, luckily for yee, it'll be the same again in 2026!
Ye'll start on the Quayside Road and gaan alang Sandhill, Skinnerburn and Monarch Roads wheor ye'll heed reight and gan alang the Scotswood Road. Passing the watter station and Armstongs Factory, ye'll gan ower the Scotswood Bridge. A quick detour towards Derwenthaugh Roundabout and ye'll be on the road reet inta Blaydon Toon. Alang Chainbridge Road and inta the finishing field.
You’ll be entertained alang the way by various bands and the drummers, so keep ya lugs flappin.

To facilitate a safe race for all runners, marshals and officials, please see below a list of road closures that will be in effect on the 9th June.

Quayside Road (B1600): 15:00 - 20:45.
Sandhill/Close/Swing Bridge (B1600): 18:25 - 20:00.
Skinnerburn Road: 18:25 - 20:15.
Monarch Road/William Armstrong Drive: 18:25 - 20:30.
Scotswood Road (A695): 18:25 - 21:00.
Scotswood Bridge (South towards Metrocentre): 18:25 to 21:00.
Scotswood Bridge (North & West): 18:25 to 21:30.
Gateshead
Tyne Street: 00:00 to 21:30
Chainbridge Road (B6317): 17:30 to 22:00
Blaydon Highway (A694/5): 18:25 to 21:30
McDonalds / Blaydon Bus Station / Blaydon Shopping Precinct Service Road: 18:25 to 21:30
Access and egress to premises affected by the closures, is prohibited for the durations stated above.
