Blaydon Harrier and Athletics Club is buzzing and has some exciting news to share with all our followers.

Tuesday, 9th Joon 2026 will see the second edition of The Junior Blaydon Race sponsored by Project Groundwater Northumbria which will take place in the lead up to the main event.

 

There will be 2 Junior Race categories to enter: 

• 1 mile: 8 - 11 years inclusive, taking place at 17:30.

• 5K: 12 - 15 years inclusive, taking place at 17:50.​

 

The route will be located around Shibdon Road Nature Reserve, Blaydon and is multi terrain.

 

All entrants will receive:

• Customised race number.

• Chip time.

• Unique Junior Blaydon Race 2026 finishers medal.

• Drink and snack.

 

There will also be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placers, along with a spot prize for a lucky athlete in each race.

 

Entries will be limited to 250 and 200 entrants respectively. We are expecting to be oversubscribed again, to ensure fairness we will use a ballot format. There is a nominal entry fee of £5 to cover part of our costs.

 

Key dates:

2nd March 2026 - Junior Race Entries Open @ 08:00.

7th March 2026 - Junior Race Entries Close @ 20:00.

9th March 2026 - Junior Race Runners Notified/Payment Window Opens.

15th March 2026 - Junior Race Entries Close @ 20:00.
