Behind every great race is a team of volunteers making it happen. It was all hands on deck at Blaydon Harriers stuffing envelopes and sticking down thousands of race numbers ready for the iconic Blaydon Race. It might not be glamorous, but it’s all part of the build-up — a proper team effort to get everything ready for race day. The countdown is on!

There’s still an exciting way to be part of this historic event! You can get involved by volunteering and showing your support, cheering everyone on as they gan alang the Scotswood Road. Blaydon Harrier and Athletics Club is buzzing to announce the return of the Junior Blaydon Race , proudly sponsored by Project Groundwater Northumbria ! The event will take place on Tuesday 9th June 2026 , ahead of the main Blaydon Race. 🌿 Location: Shibdon Road Nature Reserve, Blaydon 🌿 Surface: Multi-terrain! Race Categories: 🔹 1 Mile – Ages 8–11 (17:30 start) 🔹 5K – Ages 12–15 (17:50 start) Each junior racer will receive: 🏅 Unique Junior Blaydon Race 2026 finish
