The Blaydon Race takes place on Sunday 9th June. What better way to start the day than watching the kids in action first?

 

Each year alongside the main race, Blaydon Harrier & Athletics Club hosts a free kids fun run.

 

This year, Blaydon Harrier & Athletics Club have organised two runs for kids. The intention is to promote community participation in athletics, particularly in young people.

 

The first run, starting at 13:30, is a 1 mile cross country style course on the grassed areas around Shibdon Pond and playing fields. This will be an unaccompanied run for 8-11 year olds.

 

The second run, starting at 14:00, is a 2 mile cross country style course on the grassed areas around Shibdon Pond and playing fields. This will be an unaccompanied run for 12-16 year olds.

 

We are delighted that Beckleberry’s Ice Cream, a successful, local Blaydon Business has partnered with us for this year’s Kiddars and Junior runs.

 

Registration for the Beckleberry's Kiddars and Junior Fun Runs will open at 10:00, on Monday 8th April 2024.

 

Entry is free and every child will receive a free t-shirt and water. Kids aged 8-11 will also get a sweet treat at the end and there are spot prizes for the over 12s.

 

Places are limited to 100 kids per race; they will fill up fast and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
